Today is the official start of winter in Lake Geneva and to make sure we don’t forget the start of this winter, Mother Nature decided to let us know she had arrived by bringing us snow, and a lot of it.
As a result we are under a winter storm warning, but that’s ok because here at Lazy Cloud, we have the fireplace blazing, and the hospitality is overflowing. It will take more than a winter storm to quench the romance to be found here at Lazy Cloud.
However with winter being officially here, it got us to thinking about the one question we get asked a lot in the winter. What is that question? “does Lake Geneva slow down in the winter”….and the answer is “yes” and “no”. Granted you won’t find the throngs of tourists you see milling about in the summer, but what you will see is a heartier type of soul strolling the area. One who revels in the cold and brisk air and who welcomes both the beauty and the serenity that winter brings.
And with all the winter activities in the area, you can rest assured, you will still find the streets and shops lined with area visitors anxious to take part in some winter fun. What kind of winter fun? Below we have listed just a few of the myriad of things you can do during the winter in Lake Geneva.
The Lake Geneva sledding hill is located near the old railroad bridge just near the parking lot at the intersection of Sage and Mill Streets. The hill is lighted each day from 4 to 10 p.m for all to use.
Year-around trail rides. Hayrides, sleigh rides, and bonfires available with advanced notice.
Experience Lake Geneva’s only horse-drawn carriage service, providing year-round relaxing, scenic carriage tours and romantic rides through downtown, lakefront, and historic Maple Park District. Carriage service is located one block south of Main Street (Hwy 50) at the corner of Wrigley Drive and Broad Street, weather permitting, seven days a week.
There you have just a small listing of all the great outdoor winter activities you can take part in, during the winter in Lake Geneva…..and of course after a full day of winter activities, where better to spend the night than at Lazy Cloud? Let our blazing fireplaces, and in room double whirlpools warm you up after spending the day in the brisk winter air.
And of course, don’t forget to pre-order your picnic basket when you book your reservation….this way you can have a romantic picnic dinner for two in front of your crackling fire after a day of winter fun.
If you are starting to think “HMMMM….this winter might not be so bad after all if we can schedule some time away to Lake Geneva at one of the best romantic winter getaways in Wisconsin!”
