The lodge is a "Cape Cod" style building. In fact, the first time
you see it from the road it will appear small from the front, but
the Uihlein's built it to face the polo fields and not the road
itself.
The Paul Newman Suite is named
that because in 1950, the actor Paul Newman had stayed here at
one time!! Early in Newman's acting career, he played at the Summer
Stock at the Belfry Theater in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. From what
we gathered at the time, Paul Newman was poor and mowed the lawn
in exchange for rent.
Additionally, there has been another famous person
who has stayed here, J.D. Salinger. He stayed in the Log
Cabin Suite for one entire summer while he was writing the
book "Catcher In The Rye"
